360° Vision System Gains Color, Resolution

OmniView allows detailed inspection and verification of unoriented wine and juice bottles, canned goods, pharmaceutical vials and other cylindrical packages right on the production line. Using Windows 7 64-bit PCs, OmniView is designed to inspect products at up to 1,200 parts per minute. It uses four cameras positioned around the conveyor to view all sides of a product. These are mapped into a 3D model using proprietary technology, and then inspected using VisionPro software. New full-color inspection enables plants to inspect color logos, match the cap and label colors, and confirm the color of bottle contents. Ability to use cameras up to 5 megapixels in resolution allows detailed inspections on slower lines. The higher resolution can also be used to image tall bottles in a single field of view, while retaining enough resolution to clearly read small print or Data Matrix codes.
